Vegan Minshuku Sanbiki Neko

Helen and Craig are the most delightful people I’ve ever met! I’d come back to Kyoto just to spend a few more days at their lovely stay. They’re warm, welcoming and go above & beyond to make you feel at home. They were not only kind enough to accommodate my luggage needs on a Sunday afternoon after check out, but Craig even drove me to the railway station & gave me a hand with the suitcases since it was raining, even though he didn’t have to. They really the kindest folks. Their breakfasts could honestly be classified as gourmet food. Cooked fresh and served hot - delicious and healthy. Even if you’re not vegan, you’ll absolutely adore their food! The place is beautiful with thoughtful feline art adorning it. The rooms are minimalistic in a Japanese style & have comfortable futon beds and are squeaky clean. A short 10 minute walk to the bus station. The cats are the cherry on top. Highly highly recommend them.

The vegan Japanese breakfast was a delight every morning. The couple who run the hotel are delightful and so extremely helpful. We could use the kitchen throughout the day and help ourselves to tea, coffee and other drinks. We even got to do our laundry at no charge. The hotel feels more like a home, it is very welcoming, and you get to meet other fellow vegans. And the kitties were an added bonus to the package!

The breakfast was incredible, and the rooms have a modern Japanese style that feels cosy, futons were really comfy and we really appreciated having a small balcony in the room too. Staying here was like a little home away from home, and we loved meeting all the cats 🐈 They also have great restaurant recommendations if you’re looking for vegan/veggy options in the city. Craig and Helene are just the nicest people, we would 100% stay here again!

A beautiful place with amazing breakfasts (and some great wraps at very reasonable prices to carry with you for lunch if you ask the day before). The place is clean and comfortable. Plenty of hot water and good pressure in the pipes; quality vegan toiletries provided. Quiet neighborhood within an easy walk of shops. And sometimes cats appear in the common room for your amusement (but never upstairs in the guest rooms).

The hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful. Craig was very generous in sharing his experience and knowledge of Kyoto and life in Japan. We loved Craig’s sense of humour and Helen’s great Halloween decorations. The vegan breakfasts were super tasty. There is information about Kyoto vegan dining which was very helpful. The cats were lovely to have around. We would definitely book again if we were in Kyoto and recommend to our friends. Thank you Helen and Craig.

Fantastic vegan b&b in Kyoto. I loved every minute of my stay there. The room was impeccably clean, like the rest of the house. Sleeping on a futon, Japanese style, was fun. Breakfast was fantastic. You can tell that Craig and Helen really care about their guests. Craig gave me lots of very useful info and tips about where to go and what to do in Kyoto. Much appreciated. I would certainly go back!
